Today’s Worship Walk: Jeremiah 31:3

The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:

‘I have loved you with an everlasting love;

I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.'”

I have a friend who always starts her prayers with, “Thank you for your love, God.” It’s an awesome way to begin worship, because it focuses her mind (and those of her listeners) on Him. When I hear her say that I can almost feel my heart growing bigger, kind of like the Grinch’s! And as I slow down and really take in this truth, I realize that whatever I know about God’s love doesn’t even scratch the surface of how deeply He cares for us. It becomes a humbling moment that truly prepares me to pray with my eyes fixed on Him.

Today’s Worship Walk: Lamentations 3:25-26

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him,

it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

Lamentations 3:25-26

Waiting quietly is not a natural gifting of mine! I’ve often battled impatience and frustration, trying to move a situation in what I thought was the right direction. Lately it’s been occurring to me just how much time I’ve wasted in that regard, time I can never get back. But, instead of regretting lost moments. I need to ask God to work on me. He’ll teach me patience. Not only that, He’ll remind me how faithful He’s been, how I can trust Him in all things. Waiting quietly may not be my gift, but it’s part of my calling.
