“And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
I love the gentle reminder that God sees every sacrifice we make. I used to think that my offerings had to be really big and special to be acceptable to Him. But the truth is, He is much more interested in our hearts being right – that is, we are humble and worship-ful before Him.
If that is in place, then God is delighted by whatever we can bring Him at any given moment. I find reassurance in knowing that as long as I’m looking to give Him glory, He’ll take our offerings and use them in mighty ways for His Kingdom!
