Today’s Worship Walk: Proverbs 24:16

“…for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.”

Proverbs 24:16

The Apostle Paul certainly lived this verse out, didn’t he? Reading about all his hardships and even near-death experiences used to discourage me. I thought, “How could he keep going through all that?”

If Paul had been operating in his own strength, he might we’ll have given up. But, thankfully, along with a God-given mission, he had a God-given power to endure through every challenge. He claimed he’d been “struck down but not destroyed,” and he meant that literally!

My own struggles are small in scope compared to Paul’s adventures. But the same power to get up after setbacks and failures is available to me, to all of us.  If we ask, God will make us more resilient than we ever thought we could be.
