Today’s Worship Walk: Psalm 61:2-4

“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah.”

Psalm 61:2-4

King David understood the power of calling out to God. So many of his Psalms include passages that express loneliness or fear or even anger. But then there are places where he proclaims God’s promises, and I can almost feel his mood lighten.

These three verses describe the God David knows: firm and unwavering, able to withstand any storm. And David knows that if he stays close, God will provide shelter, protection and a foundation nothing can destroy.

I want to be able to give that kind of testimony, to be so sure of God that I have no doubts about my safety with Him. The more of my life I trust God with, the more I’ll have to declare about His grace.
