“For God is not a God of disorder but of peace…”
1 Corinthians 14:33
That is such a wonderful truth. When the unrest in the world agitates me, these words settle my spirit. When I face challenges that are out of my control, this verse helps me release the urge to bulldoze my way to a solution.
Paul wrote it as part of a passage instructing the Corinthian church in their behavior during services. But I connect the idea with how we are to live in daily life as well. If we are, as someone said, representatives for God here on Earth, then we need to reflect His character.
So how do we live this out, especially in times like now when we see chaos on almost every side? I’ve thought a lot about another letter Paul sent, this one to Rome. In it He urged: “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”(Romans 12:18)
It sounds like a small step. But the more we make this choice as we go through our days, the more God’s grace will impact those around us. And we know how our Lord can multiply what we give in offering!
