Christian Quotes: Ben Fitzgerald

It takes a lot of energy to keep up a facade, doesn’t it? Yet so many of us try to maintain the appearance of a happy, content life to others. In reality, we all have “unhappy” emotions sometimes – it’s part of living in this world. I think I can safely say that no one likes feeling them, but they do serve a purpose. So, can we let down and reveal ourselves at those times (even a little), to God and those we trust? If we do, we’ll find a sweeter kind of community and more healing than we will trying to push through and look great.

“Some of you aren’t doing okay out there. Some of you hide your feelings of loneliness, shame over things you did wrong, or the pressure of feeling you never do enough. God sees you, God wants to be closer to you, He has people who want to encourage you too. Stop hiding and trying in your own strength; this will only make things worse. Be vulnerable with Him and be real with a trusted friend and pray with them. Not all feelings are real, not all thoughts are truth. Cast your cares upon the Lord, for He cares for you.”

Ben Fitzgerald

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

Christian Quotes: Billy Graham

Within this environment where so many people finding reasons to speak with anger, we actually have a great opportunity. For though it might be challenging, we can use our voices to bring a different tone to a conversation. The Holy Spirit will help us offer a listening ear and a wise response, two things that can diffuse someone’s upset. Then there will be a chance for positive connection.

“Hot heads and cold hearts never solved anything.”

Billy Graham

A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.”

Christian Quotes: Warren Wiersbe

I don’t know about you, but these days I need reminding that God is always in the business of doing something new – in our own hearts, in our lives, and all around us. When I feel stuck, knowing that He is already working boosts my spirit, and helps me look for Him more eagerly. I hope that thought encourages you, too!

Nothing paralyzes our lives like the attitude that things can never change. We need to remind ourselves that God can change things. Outlook determines outcome. If we see only the problems, we will be defeated; but if we see the possibilities in the problems, we can have victory.”

Warren Wiersbe

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Isaiah 43:19

Christian Quotes: Max Lucado

“The Bible is the story of two gardens: Eden and Gethsemane. In the first, Adam took a fall. In the second, Jesus took a stand. In the first, God sought Adam. In the second, Jesus sought God. In Eden, Adam hid from God. In Gethsemane, Jesus emerged from the tomb. In Eden, Satan led Adam to a tree that led to his death. From Gethsemane, Jesus went to a tree that led to our life.”

Max Lucado

“For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the deadi comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”

1 Corinthians 15:21-22

Christian Quotes: Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Thankfulness is more than a nice state of mind. Feeling, and expressing, our gratitude can have powerful impacts on not just us, but those around us. How? Hearing how God has blessed us (done in a sensitive way) can encourage someone who is still waiting for an answer to prayer. Our praises (done in a humble way) can even cause a non-believer to wonder about who this Lord of ours is, and might open a door to evangelism.

It’s not hard to find reasons to thank God – so let’s not hesitate!

“If I will lack all things in life, one thing I should never lack is my full faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! If I should get all things in life, one thing I should never lack is the fullness of the Lord Jesus Christ in my life!”

 Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Galatians 2:20

Christian Quotes: Frances Bacon

I am by nature a curious person. I like to find out how things work, or why they are the way they are. My husband will tell you one of my favorite phrases is, “I wonder…” Seeking knowledge is a good thing, as long as we don’t take it too far. For instance, sometimes I’ve found myself in a snit because I just can’t figure a thing out. That’s when curiosity gets a tinge of pride to it.

I’ve learned in those moments to stop thinking so much, and to turn to God with my questions instead. I don’t always get a direct answer, but He always teaches me something valuable in the process.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

“Do not heed the jar of man’s warring opinions. Let God be true and every man a liar. The Bible is the Bible still. If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God. You have an unction from the Holy One, and you know all things.”

Horatius Bonar

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

James 1:5

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit…”

Colossians 3:16

This song always touches my heart, because it’s the reminder I need to shift my focus back onto the Lord, and to fix my attitude back to gratitude. I challenge you to listen to this and NOT feel blessed by Him!
